Jadeja is now only the third all-rounder in the history of Test cricket to amass 500 runs and pick up 50 wickets in the same Test season 2016-17
The left-arm spinner now has 509 runs to his name and has so far picked up 68 wickets in 13 Test matches this season.
Kapil Dev had achieved the feat in 1979-80 while Mitchell Johnson had recorded the distinction in 2008-09.
During the course of his unbeaten 16, Ravindra Jadeja also became the tenth Indian all-rounder to complete the double of 1000 runs and 100 wickets in Tests.
The achievements come at a time when Ravindra Jadeja is going through his best period as an all-rounder in Test cricket. His development into a genuine wicket taking bowler has seen him get past his spin partner Ravichandran Ashwin in the ICC Test ranking for bowlers and the left-arm spinner is currently the world's top Test bowler.
Ravindra Jadeja has so far picked up 22 wickets in the series against Australia and leads the chart among the bowlers.
