The Income tax department on Thursday Dec 08,2016 hit a jackpot seizing 100 kg of gold and Rs 90 crore in new currency during its raid in Chennai.
The tax sleuths raided several Chennai-based jewellers and in the process recovered huge sum of black money in the form of Rs 90 crore and 100 kg of gold.
The Rs 90 crore seized were in cash out of which Rs 80 crore were in the form of demonetized currencies while the remaining Rs 10 crore in the form of Rs 2000 notes.
