AIADMK Leader J Jayalalithaa thanks R K Nagar Voters Monday June 006,2016

Thanking the voters of Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar Assembly constituency for electing her a second time, AIADMK leader and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Monday assured to covert it into a model constituency.

Ms. Jayalalithaa who toured the constituency on Monday evening and addressed ‘thanksgiving’ meetings seated in her vehicle, said the people of R.K. Nagar had secured an indelible place in her heart. “No amount of thanks will be sufficient to express my gratitude to you. I thank you for the overwhelming love and warm welcome you have given me each time I have come here; I thank you for the huge win you have given me,” she said adding, “I shall show my gratitude to you through my actions.”

The AIADMK leader said the electorate of the constituency had given her a historic opportunity to serve as Chief Minister for the sixth time and a rare back-to-back victory. Ms. Jayalalithaa recalled that during the one-year she served as MLA of the constituency after being elected in a by-poll in 2015, she had brought in as many developmental schemes as possible. “I have made several electoral promises. I am fulfilling them one by one. Soon everything will be fulfilled. I guarantee that R.K. Nagar would be envied as the most developed and model constituency in Tamil Nadu,” she said.

The Chief Minister spoke for about three minutes each at S.N. Chetty Street in Kasimedu and near Vaithyanathan Bridge at Tondiarpet; the tour lasted about two-and-a-half hours. The speech at Kasimedu was delivered near a statue of AIADMK founder M.G. Ramachandran, the spot marking the beginning of the Chief Minister’s constituency. Finance Minister O. Panneerselvam was among the ministers who welcomed Ms. Jayalalithaa at the venue of her second speech point.

Ms. Jayalalithaa was greeted by enthusiastic men and women who had lined up on either sides of the road. People had been lining up on Binny and Cathedral Roads outside her Poes Garden residence since late afternoon. By the time Ms. Jayalalithaa’s convoy entered North Chennai at 5.30 PM, chenda artists, brass bands, women carrying poorna kumbhams and those performing cinematic dance were busy entertaining the wayside crowds. The streets of North Chennai that would have normally been choked with Monday evening peak traffic had been swept clean and cleared for the Chief Minister’s convoy to pass through. A government press statement later said that Ms. Jayalalithaa named two infants during her trip: Aparna at Thideer Nagar and Devika at Tondiarpet
