Prime Minister Narendra Modi sets 60-day deadline for officials to resolve public grievances Wednesday March 23,2016

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday March 23,2016 set a 60-day deadline for government departments to resolve public grievances, saying redressing such complaints is the “biggest aspect of democracy.”

Reiterating his directive for top officers, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a focused action plan over the next one month to ensure that only exceptional cases take more than two months to address.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed the plan while speaking to secretaries at the central government and chief secretaries of States at a review meeting under the PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation), an ICT-based, multi-modal mechanism to track key projects and policy outcomes.

Following the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directive to improve the resolution of public grievances at a meeting in January, the Cabinet Secretariat asked top officials in all ministries having substantial public interface to personally resolve 10 to 30 grievances every week.

 At Wednesday’s meeting, Prime Minister Narendra  Modi reviewed the progress on this initiative and urged officers to speed up the pace of work
