The second
of three winning Powerball ticket-holders from last month's $1.58billion
jackpot identified themselves on Wednesday February 17,2016, as they claimed their stake
in the record-breaking draw.
David
Kaltschmidt(55)and Maureen Smith(70)received their check at an
afternoon press conference at Florida Lottery headquarters in
Tallahassee on Wednesday.
The
married couple chose to take their prize in a one-time payment of
$327million before taxes. Smith said the decision to take the lump-sum
instead of the larger annuity was based on her age.
'We're going to take care of family,' Smith said, when asked about their plans for the winnings.
The
couple, who have been married since 1980, demurred when asked if they
have any children together, with Kaltschmidt saying there are 'certain
things we'd like to keep to ourselves'.
