An
Australian court ruled the products marketed to treat specific pains,
such as migraine and period pains, were identical to one another - and
therefore misled consumers.
It
said that British-based multinational had made misleading claims about
its Nurofen Back Pain, Nurofen Period Pain, Nurofen Migraine Pain and
Nurofen Tension Headache products
It follows the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) taking the company to court in March.
It
was found the active ingredient, ibuprofen lysine 342mg, was the same
in each of the products, and each product had the same effect on pain.
Nurofen
said the products had been 'designed to help the consumer easily
navigate our range', especially in stores where there was no pharmacy.
