2015 Turkish General Election Sunday November 01,2015

The 2015 Turkish General Election is scheduled to be held on Sunday November 01,2015 throughout the 85 Electoral Districts of Turkey to elect 550 Members to the Grand National Assembly

It is the 25th general election in the history of the Turkish Republic and will elect the country's 26th Parliament

Background to the election

The snap election was called by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on August 24,2015 after coalition negotiations between the governing Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the opposition broke down, amid claims that a vast number of AKP politicians favoured calling an early election rather than going into coalition.

The previous General Election held in June 2015 had resulted in a 'Hung Parliament',with the AKP falling 18 seats short of a majority.

The election, which was dubbed as a 're-run' of the inconclusive June 2015 election by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will be the 7th early election in the history of Turkish multi-party politics and the first to be overseen by an Interim Election Government

Serving Prime Minister Ahmet Devutoglu was tasked with forming the interim government on August 25,2015, a day after Erdoğan announced the snap poll.

The election will render the 25th Parliamentary Session, elected in June 2015, the shortest in the Grand National Assembly's history, lasting for just five months and being in session for a total of 33 hours

Turkey is heading to polls for a second time in five months amid instability spilling over from neighbouring Syria and renewed tensions over the 30-year-old Kurdish conflict.

More than 54 million people are registered to vote at 175,000 stations on Sunday between 7am and 4pm in the eastern provinces of Turkey, and 8am and 5pm in the western ones

In the June 2015 polls, the AK party secured 258 seats in the 550-seat house, losing many to the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), which achieved unprecedented success for a pro-Kurdish party by getting 80 seats
The main opposition centre-left Republican People's Party (CHP) and far-right Nationalist Action Party (MHP), which respectively won 131 and 80 seats in the last elections, are the other main players in the polls - among the 16 political parties in the fray.
Parties need to secure 276 seats to govern the country alone.

Turkey's AK Party Wins in Snap Election

Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) won back parliamentary majority in Sunday' s elections, paving way for it to form the next government on its own, according to the preliminary results based on 98 % of votes counted.

The AKP gained nearly 49% of the votes, and received 315 seats in the 550-member parliament, securing parliament majority as 98 percent of ballots are counted, according to semi-official Anadolu Agency.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu declared AKP victory in his initial statement after the polls.
"Today is a day of victory. This victory is not ours. It's the nation's victory," Davutoglu said addressing his supporters in Konya province of central Turkey.
"Hopefully we will serve you well for the next four years and stand in front of you once again in 2019," he said, adding that they would build a "new Turkey"

The win comes as a huge personal victory for 61-year-old President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who founded the ruling party, and who may now be able to secure enough support for his controversial ambitions to expand his role into a powerful U.S.-style executive presidency

Delight: Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has reclaimed its majority rule, after holding a risky snap elections today. The party lost its decade-long one-party rule in June
The result will come as a shock to most analysts, who predicted that the AKP would once again fall short and be forced to form a coalition

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has hailed his party's election victory as a vote for "unity and integrity" after the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK party) took back a majority in parliament.
With almost all of the ballots counted early on Monday, Erdogan's party won 49.4 percent of the vote - enough for a majority of 316 seats.
The main opposition CHP won about 25 percent of the vote (134 seats), while the nationalist MHP party secured 11.9 percent (41 seats).
The pro-Kurdish HDP party has claimed a little over 10.5 percent to get 59 seats.
In a statement after his party's win, Erdogan said the result "delivered an important message" to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party that "oppression and bloodshed cannot coexist with democracy.
"Our people clearly showed in the November 1 elections that they prefer action and development to controversy," 61-year-old Erdogan said.
Voters "have given proof of their strong desire for the unity and integrity" of Turkey, he added.

PETA sparks outrage with controversial new billboard campaign about cancer-causing meats that features a child smoking

Controversial: This new billboard in Leeds by animals rights charity PETA has sparked outrage for featuring a child smoking in an attempt to raise awareness of cancer-causing meats. It urges people to 'Go Vegan!'

PETA has sparked outrage after launching a controversial new billboard campaign featuring a child smoking in an attempt to raise awareness of cancer-causing meats.

The poster shows a boy aged around two or three years old lying on his stomach, reading a book, while holding a smouldering Havana-style cigar.

It urges people to 'Go Vegan!' and reads: 'You Wouldn't Let Your Child Smoke. Like Smoking, Eating Bacon, Sausages and Other Processed Meats Is Linked to Cancer'

The billboard has been put up on Burley Street in Leeds, West Yorkshire, just days after the World Health Organisation (WHO) released a report listing processed meats, such as sausages and bacon, as a cancer threat.

The report said eating as little as 50 grams of processed meat a day - around one sausage or two slices of bacon - raises the risk of developing bowel cancer by 18 %

It classified processed meat as carcinogenic alongside arsenic and asbestos, with global health chiefs warning it was as big a cancer threat as cigarettes.

The billboard came in for criticism on social media, with one Twitter user, Jennifer Lane, posting: 'I support PETA and I am against cruelty and abuse towards animals. But this is just b******* and over the top.'

Steven Conrads added: 'People will not respond well to misleading signs, esp [sic] when the science is lousy. Emphasis better placed on the ethical appeal.'

2015 Rugby World Cup - New Zealand beats Australia to win the title Saturday Oct 31,2015

New Zealand capped one of the most dominant eras in rugby history by becoming the first team to retain the World Cup, repelling Australia's second-half resurgence in a 34-17 win sealed by the boot of unflappable Dan Carter on Saturday Oct 31,2015

In the 112th and likely last test of his record-breaking career, Carter steered the All Blacks to an unprecedented third global title — and first outside New Zealand — with a dropped goal, a penalty from halfway, and a right-footed conversion of Beauden Barrett's breakaway try in the final 10 minutes at Twickenham.

Carter finished the highest-scoring World Cup final with 19 points, and finally played a full part in an All Blacks' World Cup win after getting injured during the team's 2011 title campaign.
"It is the ultimate achievement," said Carter, who — if this really is his final act as an All Black — concludes his test career with 1,598 points, over 300 more than the next best.

Since winning the 2011 final, New Zealand have won 49 of 54 games under coach Steve Hansen — losing only three of them — to enhance the legacy of one of the greatest teams in sports.

Car Manufacturers in Chennai,Tamil Nadu,India

With six carmakers -
  • Ford
  • Hyundai
  • BMW
  • Renault
  • Nissan and
  • Mitsubishi-HM

Chennai has now emerged as one among the world’s top 10 automobile manufacturing centres.

The growth of the automobile industry in the State could be divided into two distinct periods. The first period of about 37 years, runs from the Second Five Year Plan period (1956-1961) to 1993.

This period witnessed the setting up of industrial estates in Ambattur and Guindy, the establishment of the heavy vehicles factory in Avadi in the public sector, and Ashok Leyland at Ennore in the private sector, and a cluster of industries in the private sector by the TVS group headed by TV Sundaram Iyengar, the Anamalai Industries led by Pollachi Mahalingam, and the Madras Rubber Factory by Mammen Mapillai, to name a few. Between 1963 and 1994, Ashok Leyland and others set up their expanded units in Hosur.

The second phase started in 1994, when Ford Motors decided to set up its car manufacturing unit at Maraimalai Nagar near Chennai.
Starting operations in 1996 as a joint venture with Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) in March 2005, Ford India became a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, after divestment of its crossholding portfolio with M&M.

The establishment of Ford and Hyundai became the source of inspiration to all Chennai-based automobile industries to go in for modernisation of their respective auto components on a massive scale, be it axles, brakes or brake linings, or steering wheels.

South Korea’s Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is the second largest and the fastest growing car manufacturer in India. HMIL now markets more than 30 variants of passenger cars across all segments
HMIL has rolled out 10,00,000 cars in just 90 months since its inception
HMIL  is also the largest exporter of passenger cars, with exports of over Rs. 1,800 crore. HMIL exports to over 60 countries globally and made a foray into the highly competitive UK market by exporting its first shipment of 820 cars.
To cater to the rising demand, HMIL commissioned its second plant in February 2008; this produces an additional 300,000 cars a year, raising HMIL’s total production to 600,000 units annually.

North Korea Calls First Ruling Party Congress for 35 Years

North Korea Calls First Ruling Party Congress for 35 Years
The sixth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) at the April 25 House of Culture, in Pyongyang, between 10 and 14 October 1980
The last congress was held way back in October 1980 under North Korea's founding leader and party supremo Kim Il-Sung.

North Korea announced today it would convene a congress of its ruling Workers' Party for the first time in 35 years, reviving a forum last gathered under the rule of current leader Kim Jong-Un's grandfather, Kim Il-Sung.

The congress only the seventh since the official founding of the party in 1945 will be held in May  2016

Kim Il-Sung's son and successor Kim Jong-Il never called a congress and next year's gathering will also be the first for third generation Kim dynasty leader Kim Jong-Un.

The decision is clearly partly attributable to the fact that this year is the 70th anniversary of the ruling party's founding a milestone marked with a massive military parade and multiple celebrations in Pyongyang earlier this month.

The Worker's Party was originally conceived, under Soviet patronage, as a classic communist entity guided by Marxist-Leninist ideology.

But as the leadership of Kim Il-Sung spawned a personality cult that went into overdrive in the late 1960s, it was redefined as the party of the leader, and has remained so ever since.

After Kim Il-Sung's death in 1994, Kim Jong-Il instituted a "military first" policy that saw a shift in influence from party officials to the generals.

When Kim Jong-Un, took over following his father's death in 2011, the party regained some lost ground as he replaced scores of powerful military commanders and forged alliances with influential party officials.
