Prime Minister Narendra Modi Visits Bihar Saturday July 25,2015

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit attains a lot of importance from the fact that he is coming to the state for first time since becoming the Prime Minister. During the LS poll campaigns last summer, Modi, in the capacity of BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, had made an extensive tours of the state, holding election rallies in 27 parliamentary constituencies out of Bihar’s total 40, apart from also addressing a whopping 175 3-D rallies across the state.

It was during his extensive election campaigns that he made a bunch of promises for Bihar — from granting special category status and special assistance to the special financial package for Bihar, a demand Nitish had been making for long.

Narendra Modi is now expected to offer a plethora of sops for Bihar which include -
  • granting a special financial package for Bihar on the pattern of Andhra Pradesh
  • announcement of a 4000-MW ultra-mega power plant
  • expansion of IOC refinery and revival of Barauni Fertiliser
  • AIIMS-like institution in north Bihar
  • development of Motihari and Nalanda as educational hubs
  • a bridge over Ganga near Mokama as a new lifeline
  •  inauguration of IIT Patna’s Bihta campus 
  •  first phase of Jagdishpur-Haldia gas pipeline project
  •  flagging off Patna-Mumbai Suvidha train
  •  launching of 38-km Daniyawan-Biharsharif rail line and 
  • Deen Dayan Upadhyay rural electrification scheme worth Rs 5,000 crore
