KKR which has gone on to win two titles (2012 and 2014) since the acquisition of the Trinidad off-spinner in 2011 faces the biggest challenge this year as Sunil Narine's effectiveness with a re-modelled action is yet to be seen.

Rain and Thunderstorms could play spoilsport at the opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament, slated to be held at the Salt Lake stadium on Tuesday, according to the Met Office forecast.

Wednesday's IPL opener between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens here also looks threatened with heavy showers predicted on the day.

MI have won 10 of their 14 contests against KKR.With 6 wins in 7 IPL matches at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Mumbai Indians have the best record among all the visiting teams

In 9 of their 14 matches against MI so far, KKR have had opening partnerships of less than 10 runs.

Most recently, when the two teams met last season, KKR got the better of MI on both occasions – firstly by 41 runs at Abu Dhabi and subsequently by 6 wickets in Cuttack

"Definitely for me, Man-of-the-match, would be Suryakumar Yadav. He showed maturity and amazing hitting," said Gautam Gambhir at the post match media conference.
Gambhir said Surya Kumar was made vice-captain as KKR believes in grooming individuals, unlike other franchises which groom players.
"We gave him the vice-captaincy because of his sense of responsibility and he has lived upto that. He is young and he's gotta lot to learn, in KKR we groom individuals that is what makes us different from other franchises," Gautam Gambhir said. 

Asked about West Indies spinner Sunil Narine who was lacklustre in the season opener, Gautam Gambhir said, "Well he was very good, the way he bowled was fantastic, maybe not at his best but he obviously showed a lot of character

Rohit Sharma's Run Riot Continues @ Eden Gardens Kolkata

In 2012, Rohit Sharma scored his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) hundred at Eden Gardens against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and not long back in 2013, he was awarded his Test cap at the very venue. He scored a brilliant hundred on his debut and in November 2014; he went on to be the World Record holder when he smacked 264 in a One-Day International (ODI) game against Sri Lanka.
