Ballari mine lord G. Janardhana Reddy walked out of the Bengaluru Central Jail on bail Friday Jan 23,2015 after spending 1,237 days behind bars over cases of illegal mining, there was not a single Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Karnataka to welcome him
Incidentally, when the BJP had emerged as the single largest party in the 2008 Karnataka Assembly elections but fell short of required numbers, the Ballari Reddys (G. Janardhana and G. Karunakara) and their aide B. Sriramulu ensured the party broke its southern barrier with B.S. Yeddyurappa as the chief minister
Today, it was only his trusted lieutenant Sriramulu who escorted him from jail, as a motley crew of his supporters burst crackers and distributed sweets. None of the former CMs from the saffron party—Yeddyurappa, D.V. Sadananda Gowda or Jagadish Shettar—, who had received the tacit support of the Reddys on previous occasions, was present.
