Prime Minister Narendra Modi Meets all the MPs of the ruling National Democratic Alliance Sunday Oct 26,2014

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used his first interaction with all the MPs of the ruling National Democratic Alliance on Sunday to send out a message: think above politics and become a force that can help chart a new course for India.

This was the first such event organised since the BJP-led alliance came to power in May 2014

Narendra Modi’s pet projects, such as the Swachh Bharat mission and the MP’s Model Village scheme, also figured during the ‘Diwali Milan’ hosted for the nearly 400 lawmakers by the prime minister at his official 7, Race Course Road residence

The MPs of the NDA, he said, represented a “force with tremendous positive energy” that could help chart a new course for the country.
Referring to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan launched earlier this month, Modi called on the MPs to connect with people as they undertook campaign-related efforts in their areas. He said the initiative had received a “tremendous response” from all sections of society.
“Achieving Swachh Bharat is tough, but just as people of this country got together to eradi- cate polio, in the same spirit, Swachh Bharat can also be achieved,” he said.

The MPs were given presentations by Union ministers on Swachh Bharat, Jan Dhan Yojana, Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana and labour reforms.

Narendra Modi urged the lawmakers to visit schools in their areas over a five-day period beginning from November 14, the 125th birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, and explain to children the importance of hygiene.
“This would send a positive message,” he said.
The government recently formed a committee of leaders from the BJP and Congress to commemorate Nehru’s 125th birth anniversary.

“There was an elaborate discus- sion on many issues which the government has brought to the nation. We had an address by the PM, who talked about various issues before the government, how a common MP can turn things around in this country, how a common MP can be the symbol of a positive political entity,” BJP general secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy said
