Apollo Theatre, in London's Shaftesbury Avenue Roof Collapses Thursday Dec 19,2013

Large sections of the plaster ceiling at London’s Apollo Theatre collapsed Dec 19,2013 Thursday night during a packed evening performance. London Ambulance Services said that that 88 people have been wounded, including seven who were seriously hurt and taken to the hospital in ambulances.

A sell-out crowd of around 720 people were watching a production of The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Night-Time when some reported hearing a loud crack as the domed roof crashed down

Witnesses said they heard creaking noises in the 112-year-old theatre before the collapse but thought it was part of the show

Paramedics said they had taken seven "seriously injured" patients to hospital, although their wounds were not life-threatening, and treated 81 walking wounded
