Jagan Mohan Reddy Begins Idefinite Fast Protesting Against Andhra Bifurcation Saturday Oct 6,2013


In front of around 1500 supporters at his Lotus Pound residence in Hyderabad, YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy stepped up the anti-Telangana protests on Saturday Oct 6,2013 by beginning an indefinite fast
"The central government does not want a united Andhra Pradesh," Mr Reddy told NDTV, adding he will move the Supreme Court, challenging the cabinet's decision to carve out one of Andhra Pradesh's three regions, Telangana, as a new state.


This is the second time that Jagan is undertaking an indefinite fast on the issue.
In September, he went on an indefinite hunger strike in Chanchalguda Jail, where he was lodged as an undertrial in an alleged disproportionate assets case against him, but it was foiled on the fifth day.

Jagan was on Wednesday night evicted from the site where he and his supporters have been holding fast, and taken to the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences on the fifth day of his fast considering his falling health

At about 11 PM, police had broken through the barricades set up outside Jagan's residence - site of the fast - and taken Jagan into preventive custody before sending him to NIMS. 

Jagan's supporters offered little resistance

Doctors had advised Jagan to give up the fasting as his sugar level was falling
