The Chief Secretaries of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh appeared before the Supreme Court on Wednesday July 31,2013 for their failure to file on time affidavits on implementation of its 2006 directions on police reforms.
They
regretted the delay in filing affidavits and assured a Bench of Justices
G.S. Singhvi and V. Gopala Gowda that the States would address the
issue.
After hearing Attorney-General G.E. Vahanvati
and counsel for various States, the Bench directed the four States to
file their affidavits in one week, explaining the problems they faced in
implementing the judgment on police reforms. The Bench said it would
see that the judgment was implemented in its entirety and not left in
limbo.
