The Rolling Stones -English Rock Band

The Rolling Stones are an English Rock Band formed in London,UK in 1962 consisting of -

• Brian Jones(Guitar)

• Ian Stewart(Piano)
• Mick Jagger(Lead Vocals)

• Keith Richards(Guitar & Backing Vocals)

• Bill Wyman(Bass)

• Charlie Watts(Drums)

Brian Jones founded and led the band, but Jagger and Richards assumed leadership after becoming the primary songwriters.

Brian Jones' increasing physical and mental troubles forced his departure from the band two weeks prior to his drowning death in 1969

Since Bill Wyman left to pursue other interests in 1993, full band members have been -

• Mick Jagger

• Keith Richards

• Charlie Watts and 

• Ronnie Wood(Guitar) who joined in 1975 

The Band have released 24 Studio Albums, 11 Live Albums and numerous compilations

Billboard Magazine  ranked the Rolling Stones -

• at Number 10 on Billboard Top All-Time Artists
• second most successful group in the Billboard Hot 100

 50th Anniversary - 1972 - 2012

• The Rolling Stones celebrated their 50th anniversary in the summer of 2012, and released a large hardback book, entitled 50, in commemoration of the event

• An HBO documentary directed by Brett Morgen capturing fifty years of the Stones was released in September 2012
