Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday Sep 18,2012 announced the decision to withdraw support to the Congress-led UPA Govt. at the Centre, and also ruled out outside support.
6 Ministers of Trinamool Congress Party(TMC) led by Mamata Banerjee will resign on Friday Sep 21,2012 from the UPA coalition, led by the Congress Party.
TMC's 19 MPs will no longer back the UPA coalition in parliament.
The West Bengal Chief Minister, however, offered a lifeline to the UPA, saying her party might reconsider the decision if the government raised the cap on subsidised LPG cylinders to 12, brought in Rs 3-4 per litre rollback in diesel prices, and scrapped foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail.
The decision was taken following a meeting, which went on for over three hours, with her party leaders.The decision by the Mamata Banerjee's TMC, which was the second largest constituent of the UPA after the Congress party, landed the ruling coalition in a minority, leaving it solely dependent on the support of Mayawati(has 21 MP's) and Mulayam Singh Yadav(22 MP's)
