Akhilesh Yadav's wife to contest Kannauj Lok Sabha Seat By-Poll

Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh's daughter-in-law, Dimple Yadav, will contest the June 24 by-election for the Kannauj Lok Sabha seat, vacated by his son and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
Kannauj by-election will be Ms. Yadav's second attempt at entering the Lok Sabha after her debacle in the Firozabad by-election in 2009. In the Firozabad poll, necessitated by the resignation of her husband who preferred to retain Kannauj, Raj Babbar of the Congress won and Ms. Yadav's defeat was a huge blow to the SP president.

Congress not to contest in Kannauj by-polls

Congress has decided not to field any candidate against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s wife Dimple Yadav, the Samajwadi Party candidate in the Kannauj Lok Sabha by-election.

“We had not contested the seat in the 2009 Lok Sabha election and we are not contesting it now,” party General Secretary Digvijay Singh said

BSP not to field candidate against Dimple in Kannauj

 BSP on Wednesday June 06,2012 announced not to contest the by-elections for Kannauj parliamentary giving a free run to SP nominee Dimple Yadav, wife of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadavconstituency

Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh's daughter-in-law, Dimple Yadav, filed her nominations for the Kannauj Lok Sabha by-poll on Tuesday June 05,2012.Apart from Ms. Yadav's, one more nomination, by Dashrath Shankar of Sanyukt Samajwadi Dal, was filed on Tuesday

 

Dimple Yadav clear favourite and may have a cakewalk 

 

Following the Congress ; BJP and BSP's decision to refrain from contesting the by-poll, the forthcoming electoral battle seems to be heading towards a no-contest with the scales, at the outset, tilted heavily in Dimple Yadav's favour.
