Bhutan Royal Wedding

 

Bhutan's 31-year-old King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk marries 21-year-old student Jetsun Pema at an ancient monastic fortress in a traditional ceremony.The "Dragon King", an Oxford graduate who came to power in 2008 at the start of democracy in Bhutan, married Jetsun Pema, the daughter of an airline pilot.

In a nation of 700,000 people where television was only introduced in 1999, the ceremony was broadcast live
