Jason Roy overcame a dizzy spell to lead England's charge to a 44 Runs Victory under the Duckworth/Lewis method in a rain-marred 1st ODI against Pakistan in Southampton.
Jason Roy's quickfire 65 fired England towards an initial victory target of 261 while Pakistan had made only 260/6
Jason Roy and Joe Root (61) took England to the brink of victory with a second-wicket stand of 89 in 14 overs.
England were
cantering home on 193/3 after 34 overs in reply to Pakistan’s
below par 260 for six before rain gave the hosts a revised target of
252 in 48 overs.
The
resumption lasted only three balls, with one more run added, before the
elements struck again to give England a mathematical victory by 44
runs.
