World Peace Council

The World Peace Council (WPC)was founded in 1950 that advocates Universal Disarmament,Sovereignty and Independence and Peaceful Co-existence and Campaigns against imperialism,Weapons of Mass Destruction and all forms of Discrimination.
WPC emerged from the policy of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union to promote peace campaigns around the world in order to oppose "warmongering" by the USA.
WPC was based in Helsinki,Finland from 1968 to 1999 and its headquarters are now in Greece.
WPC Assembly is the highest governing body which meets every 3 years.

Until the late 1980s, the World Peace Council's principal activity was the organization of large international Congresses, nearly all of which had over 2,000 delegates representing most of the countries of the world.
