2020 IPL Season 13 Players Auction in kolkata Thursday Dec 19,2019



The 13th Season of the IPL will have a added significance as 2020 is also a T20 World Cup Year

A total of 332 players - 186 Indian players, 143 overseas players and 3 players from associate nations will be up for grabs in the auction

With Rs 2 crore as the highest reserve price, seven overseas players – Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Chris Lynn, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Dale Steyn and Angelo Mathews have opted to be slotted in the highest bracket.

Robin Uthappa is the only Indian player in the auction list with a base price of Rs 1.5 crore.

Other Indian players like Piyush Chawla, Yusuf Pathan and Jaydev Unadkat have set their base price at Rs 1 crore.

At 14 Years and 350 Days,Afghanistan's Noor Ahmed is the youngest name in the auction pool with a base price of Rs 30 Lakhs and is likely to join fellow country cricketers Rashid Khan and Mohammed Nabi in the IPL

Noor Ahmed was impressive in the Under 19 ODI Series Vs India recently taking 9 wickets

Among Indian youngsters,Mumbai left hand opener Yashasvi Jaoswal and Priyam Garg who led the India Under 19 World Cup Squad alongwith Tamil Nadu left arm spinner R Sai Kishore and Bengal pacer Ishan Porel - all with a base price of Rs 20 Lakhs are the player to watch

As the IPL auction came to a close, a total of 62 players were bought by 8 teams combined

Out of the 62, 29 are foreign players while 33 are Indian.

In the auction, Australia`s pacer Pat Cummins became the most expensive foreign player as he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for INR 15.5 crore while Piyush Chawla was the most expensive Indian player as he was purchased by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for INR 6.75 crore

Varun Chakravarthy and Yashasvi Jaiswal became the two most expensive domestic talent from India, as the former went to KKR as well for Rs 4 crore, while the latter was sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 2.4 crore.

Most sought-after player in the history of IPL auction

Saurashtra bowler Jaydev Unadkat purchased by Rajasthan Royals outbidding Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab to buy back Unadkat, who had a base price of Rs 1 crore and eventually acquired his services for Rs 3 crore. In the process, Unadkat set a unique record - this was the 9th time the pacer was bought by a franchise, making him the most sought-after player in the history of IPL auctions


 

Oldest Player

At the accelerated auctions process, KKR also went after 48-year-old Pravin Tambe and bought him for Rs 20 lakh

Unsold Players

Tim Southee, Alex Hales, Yusuf Pathan, Jason Holder, Carlos Brathwaite did not get any takers and went unsold.
