Indian Cricket Allrounder Yuvraj Singh Announces Retirement From International Cricket Monday June 10,2019

Yuvraj Singh’s first shot to fame in international cricket was his performance in the 2000 Under-19 cricket world cup, where he powered the team with his batting to lift the trophy

His performance caught the attention of the selectors immediately, as he was included in the squad for ICC Knockout Trophy, held in Kenya in the same year.

Playing his first One Day International, Yuvraj became a household name by scoring a match-winning 84 off 80 balls against Australia

He batted brilliantly while facing a formidable Australian bowling attack led by Brett Lee, Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie. His debut knock cemented his position in the squad and gained him immediate stardom.

Yuvraj Singh's Career Statistics

Yuvraj has played 304 ODI's and scored 8701 runs, including 14 centuries and 52 half centuries. His highest ODI score was 150 off 127 balls against England. Yuvraj’s batting average is 36.56

Tests

The iconic cricketer played 40 Test matches, scoring a total of 1900 runs. His highest Test score was 169 off 203 balls.  He hit three Test hundreds and 11 half centuries at a batting average of 33.93.

T20Is

Yuvraj has had an impeccable strike rate of 136.38 in the shortest format of the game wherein he hit eight half centuries.

During his career, he played 58 T20Is and went on to score 1177 runs. His batting average in the 20-over format was 28.02.

He has seven Man of the Match honours in T20Is and a Player of the Tournament award in the 2007 World T20

Yuvraj's biggest and most important contribution though came at the 2011 50-over World Cup when India lifted the title for the first time in 28 years. Despite not being a 100 per cent, the southpaw was India's cornerstone all through the tournament both with the bat and ball and was named Player of the tournament for his efforts.

He stroked 362 runs in the campaign in nine games at an average of 90.50 which included four fifties and a century. He also returned 15 wickets with the ball at 25.13

But soon after the World Cup came the biggest turning point in Yuvraj's life when he was diagnosed with cancer and required a two-and-a-half month treatment in the USA. Despite the long and arduous sessions, he returned to competitive cricket and was named in India's squad for the World T20 in Sri Lanka in 2012

But poor fitness and form led to his ouster in early 2013 and he has since been in-and-out of the team. Despite that he continued to be a hot pick in the IPL raking in millions in 2014, 2015 and 2016

With the scores still not coming, Yuvraj soon found his stocks dwindling and he last played an international for India in 2017. Yuvraj would still have harboured hopes of making a comeback after being picked up by Mumbai Indians in the 2019 IPL auctions but he could only feature in four games, where he couldn't make a lasting impact.
