Glenn Maxwell scored an impressive century as Australia registered a convincing seven-wicket win in the second T20 International to clinch the two-match series 2-0. 

This is also their maiden win in the shortest format in India. 

Glenn Maxwell made the run-chase of 191 look easy as he brought up his third century in T20Is. The all-rounder remained unbeaten till the end and made 113 off 55 balls at a strike-rate of 205.45 and smashed seven boundaries and nine sixes. 

Coming into bat after the fall of Aaron Finch, Maxwell stitched a 73-run partnership with D'Arcy Short (40) for the third-wicket and then shared an unbeaten 99-run stand with Peter Handscomb to guide Australia to victory. 

Earlier, riding on captain Virat Kohli's brilliant 72 off 38 and MS Dhoni's 40 off 23, India posted a competitive score of 190 runs in 20 overs. Both Kohli and Dhoni looked in fine touch. While Kohli hit six sixes and two boundaries in his knock of 72. Meanwhile, Dhoni hit three boundaries and three sixes. 

Kohli and Dhoni established a 100-run partnership within eight overs. Following the dismissal of Dhoni, Dinesh Karthik hit two fours in three balls to help India reach a comfertable total

A first series loss at home for India under Kohli

1 This was the first series lost by India at home under Virat Kohli's captaincy across formats across 16 series. Kohli has led India in seven Test series and five ODI series in India, winning all. In his four T20 International assignments at home, he has now won two and drew one (1-1 vs Australia, 2017) before this loss.

4 This was India's fourth bilateral T20 International series loss at home and the first since October 2015 when they lost 2-0 against South Africa. This is India's second consecutive T20I series loss following the 1-2 reversal in New Zealand earlier this month. In the ten rubbers before the twin defeats, India won eight with two ending in 1-1 stalemates (both against Australia).

191 is the joint third highest target successfully chased down against India in T20 Internationals. South Africa chased down 200 in Dharamsala in 2015 followed by Windies' chase of 193 in the semifinals of World T20 2016 at the Wankhede sit at the top of the pile while Windies also chased down 191 in the one-off T20I in Kingston in July 2017.

A Maxwell special

3 Number of T20 International centuries for Glenn Maxwell - the joint second most in the format alongside Colin Munro. The only player with more three-figure scores in the shortest format is Rohit Sharma with four. It was Maxwell's first three-figure knock in India in 20-over cricket surpassing the previous best of 90 for Kings XI Punjab against Chennai Super Kings in Cuttack in IPL 2014.

113* by Maxwell is the highest individual score against India in India in T20 Internationals. He became only the second player to hit a hundred in India against the home team after Colin Munro who scored an unbeaten 109 in Rajkot in 2017.

Coming into the match, Chahal had dismissed Maxwell five times in 20-over cricket in a span of just 37 balls, including the first T20I in Vizag.
