2018 US midterm elections Tuesday Nov 06,2018 - How Indian-Americans are faring in the polls

At a time when US President Donald Trump is hardening his stance on immigration, there are 13 Indian-American candidates in the fray.

Of the 13, there are 4 Indian-Americans, all Democrats, seeking re-election to the House of Representatives in the US midterm elections 2018.

3 are projected to retain their seats.

Democrat Ro Khanna has taken a significant lead over his opponent Republican Ron Cohen in the 17th Congressional district of California.

Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi is projected to win from the eighth Congressional district on Illinois, with a large margin against Republican Jitendra Diganvker. Pramila Jayapal is heading towards a landslide win in the Seventh Congressional District of Washington State against Republican Craig Keller.

Democrat Ami Bera is in a neck-and-neck fight with Andrew Grant in the seventh Congressional district of California.

Apart from these 4, there are 9 other Indian-Americans— 6 Democrats, 2 Republicans and one Independent—who are seeking election to the House of Representatives.

Democrat Preston Kulkarni is projected to lose to Pete Olson from the 22nd Congressional District in Texas

Democrat Hiral Tiperneni is projected to lose to Debbie Lesko from the Eighth Congressional District of Arizona

Democrat Anita Malik is likely to lose to David Schweikert from the Sixth Congressional District of Arizona and

 Democrat Aftab Pureval is projected to lost a seat to the House to Steve Chabot from the First Congressional District of Ohio.

Democrat Sanjay Patel has lost to Bill Posey from the Eighth Congressional District of Florida.

Republican candidate Harry Arora has lost to Jim Himes in the Fourth District Congressional seat of Connecticut

 Independent candidate Shiva Ayyadurai (Massachusetts) has lost to Elizabeth Warren.

Democrat Chintan Desai is trailing in the Arkansas District One seat against Republican Rick Crawford.
