Suresh Raina showed yet again why he is Mr. Dependable for Chennai Super
Kings as he played a match-winning knock against Kings XI Punjab,
scoring an unbeaten 61 off just 48 balls as he guided Chennai to a
5-wicket win in their final group stage match.
Raina has also now become the only batsman to score more than 300 runs in all the IPL seasons he has played. He has 391 runs to his name in 13 games, at an average of 39.10 with highest of unbeaten 75, which came against the Mumbai Indians.
Against Kings XI, it was a trademark Raina innings as he came in after Rayudu departed early and then took his time to settle in before targeting the bowlers. He also played the short-ball well, which is seen as one of the chinks in his armory.
The southpaw has had bit of an up-and-down season, but has still scored 4 half-centuries.
Raina will get further chances to add to his tally as he still has minimum two games remaining, starting with the Qualifier against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
He will certainly be the key for Chennai Super Kings if they are to make a winning return to the IPL.
