Once a milk-starved country, India has emerged as the world's largest producer of milk in the world.
Thanks to the Operation Flood that started in 1970, India's milk production reached 155 million tonnes in 2015 from 55.6 million tonnes in 1991-92 .
Despite this remarkable growth, only few states have per person availability of more than 500 gm daily.
