This film has Jaggesh in a negative role. Débutante director, A Harikrishna, says, “8mm is the size of a bullet. You will see Jaggesh in a very different role,” says Harikrishna. The film is 60 % complete and set for an April release. Rockline Venkatesh and Mayuri are also in the film. Hari says, he was terrified about casting Jaggesh in a negative shade. But, once the “teaser received a positive response” he was confident of the story and plot. “The best part was that no one believed me about Jaggesh’s role, till the film poster was released,” laughs Harikrishna. 8MM has music by Judah Sandy and cinematography is by Vincent.
2)SAMHARA
Director Guru Deshpande has joined hands with Chiranjeevi Sarja for this romantic thriller, which is a remake of a Tamil film. The films has Haripriya in a role with dark shades and also has Kavya Shetty and Chikkana in prominent roles.
“The hero is a blind chef who can also fight. You do not see him as a disabled man, but one who is more than able,” says Raghu. The fight sequences are specially choreographed by stunt master Ravi Varma using sound and smell. “The film has all that is needed for a complete entertainer,” assures Guru.
He plans to release the film in early February 2018
3)MMCH
The film, written and directed by Mussanje Mahesh, is almost complete and features daughters of well-known actresses in the lead. It has Meghana Raj (daughter of Pramila Joshai), Samyukta Belawadi (daughter of Sudha Belawadi), Prathama Prasad (daughter of Vinaya Prasad) and Nakshatra (daughter of Sumitra) in prominent roles, and Ragini in a special role.
Ask Mahesh what MMCH means and he replies, “You have to come and watch the film to discover that. The film is based on a real life incident. There is no such thing as a hero in this film. The story starts off with a man and gets completely focussed on women.” Mahesh believes people, especially the youth, will relate to MMCH.
The film, in its post production stage, also has Nagesh Acharya as the cameraman and music by V Sridhar Sambhram.
4)CHURIKATTE
Director Raghu Shivamogga rose to fame with his short film, Chowkabaara and now is all set to release his feature film, Churikatte, which is based on the timber mafia. “I liked the story and felt it had a lot of scope. It is set in Malnad and all I would like to say now is that it is a fiction based on real life,” explains Raghu.
The films has a strong star cast with Achyuth Kumar and Sharath Lohitashwa, besides Praveen Tej and Prerana in the lead.
This film will be released on January 26,2018
5)KURUKSHETRA
This film is the talk of the town. This multi-starrer is said to be one of the biggest budgeted film ever made in Kannada Cinema
Produced by Muniratna, the film is directed by Naganna. It is believed that the duo approached Shivrajkumar for the role of Karna, but due to clash of dates, the role went to Arjun Sarja.
“I am not much of a speaker and prefer my film to talk for itself. Kurukshetra is about our epic The Mahabharata. It narrates the story from Duryodhana’s (Darshan) view point,” says Naganna. He also gives credit to producer Munirathna for making “a film like this in current times” and he believes that a good cinema will never lack audience and that they “are the best judges. Kurukshetra will be a great film for the Kannada film industry,” adds the director.
The film, which also stars Ravichandran, Devraj, Pavithra Lokesh and Meghana Raj among others, is set for a March 2018 release
