Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, who is running for the fifth consecutive term, has a total of ₹3,930 in cash and a bank account and has never filed an income-tax return, says the election affidavit submitted by him along with his nomination papers on Monday Jan 29,2018
The CPI(M) leader donates his salary to the party and gets ₹5,000 from it as subsistence allowance.
The 69-year-old leader has ₹1,520 in hand and ₹2,410 in his account in a nationalised bank. He does not have any other bank deposit, the affidavit said.
Manik Sarkar, who is contesting from the Dhanpur constituency, has no cultivable land or homestead.
The Chief Minister’s wife, Panchali Bhattacharya, a retired Central government employee, has ₹20,140 in cash and ₹1,24,101 and ₹86,473.78 in two bank accounts. She has three fixed deposits of ₹2 lakh, ₹5 lakh and ₹2.25 lakh, besides 20 grams of jewellery.
Ms. Bhattacharya inherited 888.35 sq.ft of land and has invested ₹15 lakh for construction there. The current value of the land is ₹21 lakh.
