In a big blow to hosts South Africa, star batsman AB de Villiers has been ruled out of the first three ODIs against India due to a finger injury.
De Villiers sustained the injury to his right index finger during the third Test match against India and will require up to two weeks to make a full recovery
The CSA medical team is hopeful De Villiers will recover in time for the fourth Pink ODI at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium on Saturday, February 10th. The selectors have opted not to name a replacement.
This news will come as a major boost to India as de Villiers boasts an impressive record against them.
He has scored 1295 runs in 29 innings and averages a healthy 51.80 with a strike rate of 111.44. He also has scored 6 hundreds and 5 half-centuries against them.
The first match of the series takes place at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead on Thursday.
