2017 International Cricket Council (ICC) Awards - Virat Kohli Is Cricketer Of The Year, Captain Of Test And ODI Teams Thursday Jan 18,2018

Indian captain Virat Kohli on Thursday Jan 18,2018 swept ICC Awards -
  • won the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for being the World Cricketer of the Year 2017.
  • named as ICC ODI cricketer of the year 2017 and 
  • the captain of both ICC Test and ODI teams
It is the second time Kohli has been named as the ODI cricketer of the year as he won the same honour in 2012 when he was 24 years old.

The award, which was decided for performance based on the period between September 21, 2016 to December 31, 2017, the Indian skipper scored 2,203 Test runs at an average of 77.80 which include eight centuries in the time period in the longest format, including 5 double hundreds

With Virat  Kohli as skipper, India went on to register 9 consecutive series win in the longest format.

Three Indians made it to the 2017 Test team of the year –  Ravichandran Ashwin, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli, who was also named as the captain for the side

In ODIs, Kohli hammered 1,818 ODI runs at an average of 82.63 including seven centuries, and 299 T20I runs at a strike rate of 153.

In the ODI Team of the year,apart from Virat <Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah made it to the team

With India flying high at the top of the rankings, @imVkohli scored 2203 Test runs at 77.80 (eight ๐Ÿ’ฏs), 1818 ODI runs at 82.63 (seven ๐Ÿ’ฏs), and 299 T20I runs at a strike rate of 153.
At the age of 29, he has already scored 32 ODI centuries and has his hero Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record of 49 well and truly in his sights. It is surely just a matter of time before he surpasses the Little Master, particularly if he keeps churning out runs as he did in 2017.

His ODI career average now stands at 55.74, the highest ever by a batsman from a Full Member nation!
