Piaggio launches Vespa RED in India at a price of Rs 87,009 to fight AIDS

Piaggio and RED have joined hands to launch the Vespa RED scooter that has been exclusively produced for the Indian market to fight against AIDS.
Under this partnership, the money generated by the sales of the Vespa RED in the country will go to the Global Fund to support people suffering from AIDS and in educating them and ending the disease in the country.
On purchase of every Vespa RED, the two-wheeler maker will donate $50 (about Rs 3,280) to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in India.
The Vespa RED is a 125 cc scooter and is available in a bright red body colour. It features 12-inch alloy wheels and the leather seat in red shade.
The Vespa RED uses a monocoque single piece steel body and gets 220 mm front disc brake and aircraft-inspired single sided front suspension.
Piaggio has launched the scooter with Vespa RED merchandise including a helmet, T-shirt and hat.
The Piaggio Vespa RED is priced at Rs. 87,009, ex-showroom, Mumbai and is available for sale across Vespa dealerships in the country.
This is not the first time that RED has come up to fight AIDS and other diseases like Tuberculosis and Malaria, since 2006, it has been raising money and awareness and has generated more than $475 million dollars to support Global Fund.
However, this is the first time that the sales of the Vespa RED models in the country will support Global Fund grants, especially focusing on HIV+ women who can have access to the medical services to ensure their babies are born HIV negative.
Each and every Vespa RED model sold in the country can provide more than 165 days of antiretroviral medication.
The medication also prevents mothers with HIVC+ from passing the virus to her unborn baby
