Mumbai Elphinstone Road stampede highlights: 22 dead, 35 injured; CM announces Rs 5 lakh compensation Friday Sep 29,2017

A rush hour stampede during a sudden monsoon downpour killed at least 22 people and wounded more than 30 on Friday Sep 29,2017 at Mumbai's Elphinstone Railway Station
The tragedy took place amid rain in the city around 10:40 am when the foot over-bridge was heavily crowded
KEM hospital confirms 55 casualties and releases names of victims. In all, 22 have died, including 13 men, 8 women and 1 child, and 33 have been injured, of whom there are 24 men and nine women.
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis announces Rs 5 lakh compensation for the next of the kins of deceased, says all medical expenses of the injured will be borne by the Maharashtra government.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweets condolences, promises assistance
