International Cricket Council(ICC) celebrates 135 years of The Ashes

The Ashes is 135 years old. Born on August 29, 1882, when Australia decimated England on their home turf in The Oval, The Ashes was born in a satirical obituary in 'The Sporting Times', which followed the event, which said that 'English Cricket has died' and that the body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia', which stuck among cricket fans. The title was eventually settled after England dubbed the following tour as a 'quest to regain the Ashes'.
