2017 Indian Presidential Election - Presidential Candidates

The presidential election race has shaped up into a Dalit vs Dalit battle between NDA nominee Ram Nath Kovind and his challenger Meira Kumar.

The nomination of Kumar, however, seems a symbolic gesture by opposition parties at this point as the numbers side with the NDA.

Besides NDA constituents, which comprise over 48.6 percent of votes in the electoral college that will elect the next president, regional parties such as the AIADMK, BJD, TRS and JD(U) have also announced their support to the former Bihar governor Kovind, making his win a foregone conclusion on July 20 ,2017 when the votes are counted.

Here’s how the two candidates stack up against each other
