More Put On Death Sentence But Fewer Executed in 2016

Though 2016 saw a global decrease in executions.

 However, this was offset by a rise in the number of death sentences reported worldwide in 2016, according to a report by Amnesty International. 

On a positive note, more countries – 147 in all – have abolished death penalty. 

The figure was 64 countries in 1997.
