On this day in 2004, former opener Virender Sehwag ripped apart a hapless Pakistan bowling line-up to become the first Indian cricketer to slam a triple century in the longest format of the game.
On the second day of the first Test between India and Pakistan, Sehwag hit Saqlain Mushtaq for a huge six over mid-wicket to bring up the historic triple-century. In the process, Viru eclipsed VVS Laxman's 281, which was the highest innings score by an Indian before Sehwag's onslaught in Multan.
Sehwag's innings included 39 boundaries and 6 towering sixes, at an incredible strike rate of 82.40. The Nawab of Najafgarh was finally dismissed for 309 by Mohammad Sami.
