2017 Assembly Elections - Survey predicts hung Houses in UP, Goa, Punjab

An opinion poll has predicted hung assemblies in Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Punjab while giving a clear majority to the BJP in the hill state of Uttarakhand.

The BJP, according to this survey, will also be the single-largest party in Uttar Pradesh and Goa while the Congress will be number one in Punjab.
The survey, conducted by The Week-Hansa Research, does not herald good news to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), predicting that it will stand second in Punjab and get barely two seats in Goa. In UP, where polls will be held for 403 seats in seven phases, the BJP was predicted to get 192-196 seats, barely short of the majority mark. The Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance is expected to get 178-182 seats. The biggest loser will be the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party which will get barely 20-24 seats. In Punjab, the poll projected the Congress to be the single-largest party with 49-51 seats in the 117-member Assembly. AAP will finish second with 33-35 seats and the ruling SAD-BJP alliance will score only 28-30 seats. In Uttarakhand, the BJP will get a clear majority of between 37-39 MLAs in the 70-member Assembly. The Congress will have to be satisfied with 27-29 seats, if the survey results are to be believed.
In Goa, the BJP will be the single-largest party with 17-19 seats in the 40-member Assembly. AAP will get only 3-5 seats and the Congress, between 11-13 seats.
