President Barack Obama and the First Family in their final White House Christmas Card

The White House has been sending holiday cards to staff and supporters of the president since 1927, beginning with Calvin Collidge

The Obamas chose to use an image of them taken back in March at the State Dinner for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

That was the first and only State Dinner that Sasha and Malia Obama attended during their eight years in the White House

'As our family reflects on our many happy years spent in the White House, we are grateful for the friends we've made,' reads the inside of the card

This is only the second time a photo of the President has been used on the White House holiday card

US President Barack Obama has kept his card relatively simple in years past, including his first card in office back in 2009  and his 2015 choice

Hillary and Bill Clinton were the first to feature a family photo on the White House holiday card in 1993
