- Sanath Jayasuriya remains the only Sri Lankan batsman to score a triple hundred and also the only batsman in Sri Lanka-India Test series. Jayawardene is the only Sri Lankan batsman to score double hundreds on two occasions.
- Virender Sehwag is the only Indian batsman to score double hundreds on two occasions - 293 in 2009 and 201* at Galle in Jul 2008. Sehwag's 293 is the highest individual score by an Indian batsman against Lanka.
- Sachin Tendulkar has scored eight hundreds which is not only the Indian record for most hundreds against Sri Lanka but also a record in Sri Lanka-India Test series. MS Dhoni is the lone Indian wicket-keeper to score two hundreds against Sri Lanka.
- Muttiah Muralidaran of Sri Lanka {97}, A Kumble of India {74} and Harbhajan Singh of India {50} are the three bowlers who have captured fifty plus wickets in India-Sri Lanka Test series.
- There are three occasions of a Sri Lankan bowler capturing ten or more wickets against India. 11 for 110 by Muralitharan in 2008, 11 for 196 by Muralidaran in 2001 and 10 for 209 by Mendis in 2008.
- Rangana Herath returned with figures of 240 runs in 53 overs to be the most expensive bowling figures in terms of runs conceded by a Sri Lankan bowler against India.
- Mohammad Azharuddin of India with 27 catches and Hasan Tilakaratne of Sri Lanka with 16 catches hold the record for most number of catches by a Indian fieldsman and by an Sri Lankan fieldsman respectively in Sri Lanka-India Tests.
- SAR Silva of Sri Lanka with 22 dismissals and Nayan Mongia of India with 18 dismissals hold the record for most dismissals by a Sri Lankan wicket-keeper and by an Indian wicket-keeper respectively in Sri Lanka-India Tests.
- Sri Lankan batsmen have posted 33 three-figure partnerships against India. 576 runs for the second-wicket between Sanath Jayasuriya and Roshan Mahanama in 1997 represent the highest three figure partnership against India.
- Indian batsmen have posted 43 three-figure partnerships against Sri Lanka. 272 runs for the sixth-wicket between Azharuddin and Kapil Dev in 1996 represent the highest three figure partnership against Sri Lanka
