Bajaj Dominar 400 Launched in India at Rs 1.36 Lakh Thursday December 15,2016


Bajaj on Thursday December 15,2016 launched the Dominar range with the new Dominar 400, that we first saw some two years back as Pulsar CS (Cruiser Sport) 400 concept.

It is Bajaj's newest flagship product, and the first under a sub brand of high-performance motorcycles.

While speaking at the launch event, MD Bajaj Auto Rajiv Bajaj said the Dominar will be sold nation wide, but it will also be exported to other countries like Dubai. On a lighter note, he added: "People can ride a bullet, but if they want to go faster, they could ride the Dominar 400."

Engine
The Dominar 400 is powered by a 373.2 cc triple spark four valve DTS-i engine, with fuel injection and liquid cooling, paired to six-speed transmission and slipper clutch.
With 35 PS of power and 35 Nm of torque, Bajaj says the Dominar 400 can do 0-100 kmph in 8.23 seconds.
Equipment
Braking is covered by 320mm front and 230mm rear disc, and the bike comes with an optional twin channel ABS system in the higher variant. The bike will come to a stop from 100-0 kmph in 46.19 metres, Bajaj claims.
The Dominar 400 is also the first motorcycle in India to have full LED mosaic head lamps with vertical AHO (Automatic Headlight On).
Pricing and competition
The base price for the Dominar 400 is Rs 1.36 lakh and Rs 1.50 lakh for the variant with the ABS system, which is available in three coloutrs - Midnight Blue, Twilight Plum and Moon White.
Bajaj has said that all Dominar 400s will be sold online, bookings for which started in December 15, with the booking amount being Rs 9,000. Delivery of the Dominar will start in January 2017.
Engine and performance wise, the Dominar 400 does not have direct competition, but in terms of pricing it could be pitted against Mahindra Mojo and the Royal Enfield Himalayan.
