Day One Thursday Dec 15,2016

Australia - 288/3 in 90.0 overs with Steve Smith 110* and Peter Handscomb 64* at the crease

Day Two Friday Dec 16,2016

Australia - 429/10 in 130.1 overs with Jackson Bird 19*

Australian Captain Steve Smith 130(222 Balls 4x19)and Peter Handscomb 105(240 Balls 4x10 and 6x1) lift their total to 429, and by stumps on the second day Pakistan were in massive trouble at 8 for 97.

Peter Handscomb's chanceless century, in only his second Test, ensured that the quality spells bowled by Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz did not result in a similar level of mayhem

Peter Handscomb reached his century shortly before tea, and fell soon after the resumption when he chopped on for 105, but already his Test career consists of three innings, one fifty, one century, and one winning run.

Day Three Saturday Dec 17,2016

Australia set Pakistan 490-run target

The highest successful fourth-innings run chase is 418, set by West Indies at home against Australia in 2003 and only three other teams have won pursuing more than 400.

Australia declared at 202/5, setting 490 for victory, having earlier declined to make Pakistan follow on though they were 88 runs short of the required target.

At close of play Pakistan were 70 for two, with Azhar Ali unbeaten on 41 and a desperately out-of-form Younus Khan yet to score from 19 balls at stumps on another steamy day at the Gabba.
