Undernourishment on the rise in poorest countries

Data from the recently released Global Hunger Index that measures malnutrition, stunting and mortality rates of under-five shows that more than half of Haiti’s population is undernourished, which is the highest among 118 countries for which this data is available.

Alarmingly, undernourishment has increased in four of the worst five countries.

Although India is better than some of its neighbours, it has a far higher proportion of undernourished children than that in other BRICS countries.
