Chennai Police Commissioner T.K. Rajendran was on Wednesday Sep 07,2016 transferred
and posted as the Director General of Police (Intelligence) and given
full additional charge as DGP (Law and Order), Tamil Nadu, and head of
the police force. He replaces Ashok Kumar who “opted” for voluntary
retirement on Tuesday and was relieved the same evening.
Another DGP rank officer, S. George, who was the Chairman of the Tamil
Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, was posted as the
Commissioner of Police, Chennai. Mr. Rajendran, a 1984-batch IPS
officer, was posted as Chennai Commissioner in October 2015. Six months
later, the Election Commission shifted him out to the Prison Department.
However, soon after the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam won the
election and retained power, Mr. Rajendran was posted back as the
Chennai Police Commissioner.
