Colin Kaepernick's controversial national anthem protest has landed the
San Francisco 49ers quarterback on the cover of Time magazine
TIME said
he was chosen for the cover story because he was the 'obvious choice'
after the protest he sparked has become so widespread, 'from the rest
of the NFL to high schools and colleges across the country', TMZ Sports
reported.
TIME Magazine's goal was exploring 'the nationwide debate happening around
national anthem protests', a spokesperson for Time told the gossip news
site.
Release
of the cover comes a day after Kaepernick revealed he had received
death threats from critics who believe the 28-year-old's protest is
disrespectful.
