Ravichandran Ashwin continued to torment the West Indies when he picked up his 18th 5-wicket haul in his 34th Test match for India.

The off-spinner, who was named Man-of-the-Match in the first Test at North Sound, Antigua, picked up his fifth wicket of the second Test on Day 1 after the Windies chose to bat.

His fifth scalp was host skipper Jason Holder, who was caught by Lokesh Rahul. He ended up with figures of 5/52 as India bowled out West Indies for 196.

Ravichandran Ashwin followed up his haul of seven for 83 in the final innings of the first Test a week earlier with five for 52 on a pitch offering turn and bounce from the very first session of play.

Ravichandran Ashwin  became just the 3rd Indian Bowler to have 5-wicket innings hauls in 3 consecutive Test Matches after fellow spinners Bhagwat Chandrasekhar and current coach Anil Kumble.

Ishant Sharma removed Kraigg Brathwaite and Darren Bravo off successive deliveries in just his second over

Debutant Miguel Cummins heaved his way to an unbeaten 24 in an entertaining 38-run last-wicket stand with Shannon Gabriel before leg-spinner Amit Mishra ended the innings to put the seal on another efficient effort in the field by the visitors.

Day Two Sunday July 31,2016
 
Opener Lokesh Rahul showed a lot of composure hitting a career-best 158 as India reached a comfortable 258/5 on the second day thereby taking complete control of the second cricket Test against West Indies on Sunday July 31,2016

 KL Rahul brought up his third Test hundred against West Indies at Kingston, Jamaica after he hit a maximum off Roston Chase. The 24-year old achieved the feat during the course of India’s second Test encounter.
Interestingly, Rahul hasn’t scored a century at home as his maiden ton came against the Aussies in Sydney back in 2015 where the Karnataka batsman went on to register career best score of 110 runs. Though, India lost that 4-match series. He then demolished Sri Lankan bowlers in the same year in Colombo to score 108 runs.


K L Rahul added 121 runs for the second wicket with Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored a dogged 46 off 159 balls with four boundaries

At stumps, India had consolidated their lead to a sizeable 162 runs despite only 232 runs being scored in the 88 overs bowled in the day as the visitors looked to grind the home team with an aim of outbatting them.

Ajinkya Rahane looked confident during his unbeaten knock of 42 in company of Wriddhiman Saha (17 batting).

Day Three Monday Aug 01,2016

Ajinkya Rahane carved out his 7th Test hundred 108*(237 Balls 4x13 and 6x3)before India’s declaration at 500/9 against the West Indies on Monday.

Rahane (108* off 237 balls) was at the crease as the visitors declared their first innings at 500/9 with early tea taken after a second rain interruption.

India lead by 304 runs after West Indies were bowled out for 196 runs in their first innings

Day Four Tuesday Aug 02,2016

Frustrated by a weather system that erased the final session on day three and delayed the start of play on the fourth morning for over an hour, India's varied attack made up for the lost time by again exploiting the glaring weaknesses of the West Indies batsmen.
 
West Indies' vulnerable top-order crumbled again in between the showers to be 48 for four in their second innings at the end of a rain-curtailed 4th day's play in the second Test against India at Sabina Park in Jamaica on Tuesday.

Trailing on first innings by 304 runs after the tourists reached 500 for nine declared at tea on the third day, the hosts will start the final day's play facing a deficit of 256 runs to avoid a second consecutive innings defeat

Rajendra Chandrika(1 Run) was the first to go, bowled by a delivery that made extra height from tall fast bowler Ishant Sharma and rebounded off the batsman's right elbow onto the stumps as he attempted to pull out of the shot.

His opening partner, Kraigg Brathwaite, and new batsman Darren Bravo were peppered with regular short-pitched bowling from both Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami.
Bravo in particular was lucky to survive the concerted assault but at the other end, the introduction of

Amit Mishra broke the 36-run stand when Kraigg Brathwaite (23 Runs)miscued an attempted pull off the leg-spinner for Lokesh Rahul to take the catch running back from midwicket

Marlon Samuels (0 Run)was comprehensively bowled by Mohammed Shami with no addition to the total and off what proved to be the last delivery before the interval

Darren Bravo failed to negotiate another lifting delivery angled into the body and Rahul held the catch at third slip to remove the left-hander for 20 Runs

Day Five Wednesday Aug 03,2016 

Rookie batsman Roston Chase conjured up a heroic maiden Test century to lead a remarkable West Indies fightback as the hosts forced a frustrating draw on India on the final day of the second test match 

Roston Chase, playing only his second Test match, came up with a resolute 137(269 balls 4x15 and 6x1)and in the process raised three match-saving partnerships with his teammates.

Roston Chase joined overnight batsman Jermaine Blackwood 63 Runs(54 Balls 4x9 and 6x2) at the start of play in the morning and raised a 93-run stand for the fifth wicket to deny India much success.

As sun shone bright and sunny, the wicket eased out a lot and hardly offered any assistance to the Indian bowlers.

Roston Chase then weaved a 144-run partnership with next-man in Shane Dowrich 74 Runs(114 Balls 4x6 and 6x1) who became a victim of umpire Ian Gould's misjudgement on an LBW appeal by R Ashwin.

After Shane Dowrich's dismissal, skipper Jason Holder joined his junior colleague and provided him tremendous support by hitting a fighting unbeaten 64(99 Balls 4x8 and 6x1), putting together a 103-run stand for the unconquered 7th wicket.

Roston Chase,the 24-year-old batsman batted through the day and became only the 4th West Indies player (after Sir Garfiled Sobers, Collie Smith and Dennis Atkinson)to score a hundred and claim a 5-wicket haul in same match - 5/121

West Indies began the day at a pitiable 48/4 but lost only two wickets in the entire fifth day, scuppering India's ambitions to take a 2-0 lead in the 4-match Test Series
