World's First 360-degree Live VR Camera for Smartphones Launched

At the Computex 2016 event in Taipei, world's first 360-degree live virtual reality camera for the smartphones was launched.

Built in collaboration of a Taiwanese computer hardware company Quanta Computer and Canadian video production service ImmerVision, the camera is compact in size and fits in the palm.

The camera attaches magnetically to any smartphone. It features a 360 x 187 degree lens and uses a Sony Exmor-HDR imaging sensor to produce 16 megapixel panoramic images.

The device also includes a microphone and a USB port that allows users to live stream panoramic video via WiFi or save it directly to the camera's built-in storage.

The camera can also operate standalone and one could use it like a GoPro by attaching it to objects like clothes, vehicles or drones. It can also be used as a home or personal surveillance camera
