United States on Tuesday June 07,2016 extended its support to India's bid for membership of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG). US President Barack Obama said India's entry into the NSG has been discussed and will ensure that the nuclear weapons don't fall into the wrong hands
Addressing the media jointly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi after over hour-long talks at the White House, Obama said it was natural for India and the US, two biggest democracies, to "deepen and broaden" partnership
Modi later said, "I am thankful for the help and support that my friend President Obama has extended with regard to membership in MTCR and NSG."
The Nuclear Power Corporation of India and US firm Westinghouse have also agreed to begin engineering and site design work for six nuclear power plant reactors in India. They have planned to conclude contractual arrangements by June, 2017.
