Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday June 01,2016 launched the distribution of free textbooks, note books, and uniforms to students in government and state-aided schools for the 2016-17 academic year.

As in the previous years, she gave away textbooks, note books and uniforms to students at the Secretariat, marking the launch of the welfare scheme across Tamil Nadu for the 2016-17 academic year.

An official release in Chennai said, 90 lakh students between I and XII standards would get text books, 77 lakh students note books (I to X Classes), 47 lakh students (I to VIII Classes) uniforms in Tamil Nadu.
