The Punjab and Haryana High Court refused to vacate stay granted by
it earlier on May 26 on Haryana government’s decision to grant
reservation in jobs and educational institutions to Jats and five other
communities.
Adjourning the case for next hearing to June 13,2016 the vacation bench comprising Justices Daya Chaudhary and Arun Palli said, “nothing is going to happen within a day.”
The Punjab and Haryana High Court directed all the parties in the case to file their replies by June 10,2016 and made it clear that no adjournment would be granted on next date of hearing.
Appearing for Haryana government, senior Supreme Court advocate Jagdeep Dhankar submitted while requesting the court yo vacate “ex-parte interim stay”, argued that vacate the stay subject to the outcome of the case “looking into the enormity of consequences it would have.”
But the court said that it would have to first give chance to all parties to file their replies so that proper arguments are heard before reaching to any conclusion.
