2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil - International Olympic Committe (IOC) Denies Mary Kom Wildcard Entry for Rio Olympics

The 2012 London Olympic bronze medallist Mary Kom will not be on the bus to Rio Olympics as the International Olympic Committe (IOC) has denied her the wildcard entry for the mega tournament.

The AIBA ad-hoc committee chairman, Kishen Narsi, confirmed the news on Wednesday June 22,2016

Under IOC's latest ruling the tripartite places will be available only to countries that had less than eight participants in the last two Olympics — London 2012, Beijing 2008.

This includes boxers, coaches and support staff.

Mary Kom could not book an Olympic ticket after losing in the second round of the World Championships last month.

Earlier, Narsi had written to AIBA, seeking what is officially called a Tripartite Commission Invitation Place.
